Kindergarten offers are allocated in accordance with state government guidelines which prioritises access for children who are vulnerable, at risk, or have a disability.
All other places are offered in accordance with continuity and proximity criteria which are reviewed on an annual basis taking into account feedback from kindergarten teachers, committees, families and guidance from Department of Education and Training.
The Bayside Council is responsible for allocating places via a central enrolment process.
Enrolments are weighted using criteria of “continuity” for children continuing from 3 year old into 4 year old kindergarten, and siblings applying where there is a history of a sibling in the last 3 years attending the kindergarten. Additionally “proximity” to the kindergarten is considered, a higher weighting is applied if your first preference is your closest community kindergarten service.
